Life is magical in so many different ways, from the birth of a child, to death and the afterworld and where your soul flies off to, to the many adventures that each human goes on. I am lucky to have a life of many adventures that take me to breath taking places. Places that make you want to kiss the world with eyes shut smiling into the evening sun. Im addicted to exploring the world.
When I find a new place I don’t want to just see a little part of it I want to know what’s under the rug and over the next mountain top. Sometimes it can be a little obsessive and drive me crazy. I want to know what’s around the next bend, around the next corner, a better break, a bigger mountain, a higher peak to look over this golden land. I do crave more and more when it comes to adventures and really getting to know a place.
Im happy to say thats the only time I want to know what that next green pasture looks like. Everything else in my life I am quit content with the things that are in my hands, things I can grasp onto, understanding growth and life, love and becoming yourself. As a child I was taught to be yourself, to depend on only you and your true being and I am grateful to have that as part of who I am. But I was also taught to explore, to make the most of every moment, to strive to be the best you, you can be. Thats why I climb those mountains why I search for the highest peak, why I sail to beautiful sunsets, dive into deep oceans and let my wings take me where my soul feels strength.
Check it out some sweet photos published in a cool article for Windsport Magazine of my home town spot Jackson Hole! I just love it there! Going home in 3 days!! Cant wait to see all my girlies and my fam!!
So I pretty much went from ski camp to windsurf camp. I have been in the water everyday windsurfing with the best windsurfer in the world teaching me how to water start. I feel like learning to water start would be like not understanding how to get on the chair. Its the only way you are going to get up and then get back down. It is so crazy how much fun you can have doing something new, even when it makes you cry and pisses you off, that feeling of getting up on the water and plaining along at high speeds over the beautiful ocean is hard to beat. Most of my coaches will understand where Im at right now with learning how to water start. Its been hard but good, I really enjoy the focus in windsurfing, very body aware and each slight movement with my hands. Skiing is so natural that you forget about what the little things do. Windsurfing I only think about the little things and its something I focus so hard on. More than I have in anything else lately and I like that its not skiing. Very good for the mind.
Maui has been great, as always. I have been super tired though. After the fist ski camp and a difficult one you can see how hard your body works. I have really enjoyed just laying around and playing in the water for a few days. I got to explore another island which was cool I love to explore, anything new is exciting for me. I only have a few more days here before I need to head to higher ground to get ready for the next camp, Chile!!!!!!!!!!
Another year down for NZ. Great camp, great skiing, great energy. I am pretty stoked on how this camp went. It felt so short yet I feel like we got so much done. Cornet Peak really provided some amazing snow for us this year and I think it was one of the earliest camps I have ever had that we got on injected snow. As for the body, everything is still in one piece and feeling good. I had a blast with all the girls and had a few new adventures and Im pretty happy to have this camp be the first to an amazing year.
Im headed to Maui now for some windsurfing and relaxing. We have a bit of time before Chile so why not rest and play and enjoy some sun!
I am trying to see if this works.. I will let you know how it does.. Hope everyone is having an amazing summer! It is cold and rainy down here but I love it.
Serious last minute adventure. Trevor wanted to go surf down on the coast near Invercargill and a few of us thought it would be a good idea to get out of Queenstown and join the adventure. We had an interesting day training, heavy rain made it brutal to focus. So when Trevor called to say he was going down, I jumped out of bed grabbed Hailey and off we went.
I love exploring the country and I like to get away for a day to clear my head when training so hard. Invercargill is interesting, its like Idaho Falls, but with some more island flare. We went straight to Colac Bay which was so windy Seth and I were bummed we didn’t have windsurfing gear with us because it probably would have been good. We ended up just jumping in the ocean and then headed into Invercargill for some Thai food and found a dive motel for the night. Hailey and I spooned to keep warm until I found the electric blanket and then had a restless night sweating with high electric currents going through me. When we woke up we headed to a local breakfast joint that was awesome, the guy made me special eggs with parsley and parmesan, potatoes and avocado. Surprisingly Invercargill had some good food. I thought I was going to have to live off the hammer bars and ginger beer I had stashed away, but we ended up finding some good food. After my cup of green tea I was finally up to Trevors speed. We headed down the coast to check out some other surf spots. The country side is rolly with lots of sheep and beautiful green grass even in the winter. We explored Porpoise bay and Curio bay and ended up surfing some fun waves in Porpoise which had dolphins and a very territorial seal that I almost got beheaded by. Seth and I both encountered him on our way out and after diving through a wave and realizing that the huge black blob was not Haffey or Seth or Trevor I started screaming. The seal ended up being pretty mellow but we definitely felt like we were in his feeding grounds and he was not to stoked. He would get so far up on the beach and wrestle some fish and then come diving under us and surf some waves for more, it was a bit scary for me since I have never been so close to such a big animal and in dark water. Our fearless videographer Hailey got most of it on film so we will have to make a video of it.
The trip was a great get a way and we had some good laughs and I always enjoy an adventure. Its good to bond away from the snow and just live a little too. I always have a chuckle when I think how often Snow and Ocean meet in my life and I love it!
Not just pink but pink plaid. I have not had the guts to put it on, not sure if I like it. Its like watching pink power rangers taking over the ski hill. Very aggressive which I guess is good for a take over of the world this winter!
We had four great days of skiing GS and I felt pretty good especially for not skiing it in about 2 years. I am working on staying square and keeping my upper body still. I am getting GS back which does not feel good but means its working.
Had a great day off today. Made GF pancakes, drank loads of green tea, caught up on some journaling, did some yoga, went to Queenstown and had a Patagonia Chili hot chocolate and played some bananagramms.
Sean our sports psych is here and so I will be meeting up with him soon to unload and catch up. Last time I met with him we decided I was a reckless soul……. wonder what we will find out this time….. I feel like I have come a long way, not sure what the goal mentally is. Its always nice to have a balance, to be strong and have a peaceful mind. I feel like my father is really good like that. I always felt like my cousins and brother were good at that too, really my whole family has amazing minds, very gifted in that area, but there are always those times when you are unsure of yourself and things can always get a bit crazy. So I guess Ill always have the crazy but its about training the mind to attack when it is suppose to and to be calm and peaceful and happy. Balance Baby Balance
Ginger beer, new music, beautiful morning sunrise drives to the top of white dipped peaks, laughter and pranks, muscles that are sore, sketchy cars driving with sketchy tires, on sketchy roads, ripping drills, powder over groomers, family tasty meaty meals, furgburgers, patagonia hot chocolate and coffee shops, Arrowtown, staying at Millbrook, watching Kaylin and Haliey curl up and fall asleep drooling on each other, crumpets and nutella, happy to be on the snow and having new adventures with the girls I have missed.
